Good Weather Is Here!
Thursday, January 27, 2011 at 8:42PM With the good weather, good things are beginning to happen at Willow Tree.
In March we will be hosting a Clinic focusing on fear while riding. This clinic will be given by Art Grunig, www.artgrunig.com. I’ve known Art for as many years as I can remember and he’s always championed the amateur rider. Art is a very successful horse trainer who is also committed to the comfort of the horse through body work. I encourage riders who may be having some fear issues while riding to join us March 19th. There is a flyer posted our site.
April will find us riding to Novato Horseman’s arena. This is a 4 hour ride from WTS over to Mt. Burdell, under Hwy 101 and on to the Novato Horseman’s grounds where we will have lunch. This is a long, but easy ride and we would like to encourage you to come along.
April is also when my friend Liz Marks is hosting a roping clinic at her Stonyford ranch up near Red Bluff. The clinicians are Dave Weaver and Gwen Turnbull of the Californios, yes the same Californios who put on the ranch roping competition in May at the Reno Event Center. Check out “The Californios” on line. Cool stuff.
May holds the promise of not only the Californios but “The Light Handed Horsesman’s Clinic” in Santa Inez. I’m going. This is where all of the history of the Vaquero style of riding was born and there are some of the great names in horse training doing demonstrations the 19th – 22nd. Jack Brainard, Eitan Beth Halachmy, cowgirl hall of famer, Sheila Varian, plus a whole bunch more. Check out “Light Hands Horsemanship”
Let’s have a great Spring by focusing on our horses and helping us to become better riders for their sake.
